Teresa (Terri) and Robert Milbrandt of St. Paris, Ohio, ran a fraudulent scheme claiming their 7-year-old daughter, Hannah, had leukemia and other forms of cancer to collect public donations.

The Case and Details

• The Hoax: The parents shaved Hannah's head and administered medications to her that caused symptoms mimicking illness.

• The Arrest: The scam was eventually uncovered, and Hannah was removed from their care and placed in foster care.

• Teresa (Terri) Milbrandt pleaded guilty to multiple charges and was sentenced in March 2011 to 10 months in prison.
